Project Feature: Seven Clans Hotel & Casino

We’ve done it again! We couldn't be happier with this transformation of Seven Clans Hotel in Red Lake, MN! The remodel included 40 hotel rooms, a stunning executive suite, and the hotel/casino lobby. Back in 2019 we completed a remodel of their Thief River Falls location which was a significant undertaking with over 150 hotel rooms and the lobby. When they contacted us for this remodel we were thrilled to have the opportunity to work with them again.

The Red Lake location, which was built in 2009, was designed to resemble a traditional tribal "longhouse" or gathering place and celebrate the area's woodland culture in which Red Lake plays a major part. The hotel remained untouched since its opening, and the rooms and common areas were beginning to show wear. The hallways were very dark, and many of the rooms had damaged or mismatched furniture.

Incorporate materials that are easy to maintain
Create warm and welcoming spaces that encourage guests to experience new facilities
Honor their tribe and its rich heritage
Design an environment where people are excited to work

Project Details

The hotel's new design features a color palette, textiles, and artwork inspired by the area and the heritage of the Seven Clans. Fresh white walls and quartz countertops create a crisp contrast to bronze accents and walnut furniture. A deep navy blue was used for the vanities and doors and represents the color of the lake at night. Artwork featuring the Seven Clans and a feather motif perfectly complements the vibrant hues of the new furniture.

In addition to improving the look and feel of the rooms and common areas, we made each space more functional. The existing light fixtures were updated to LED fixtures, which are brighter and more energy-efficient. New flooring features durable nylon carpet tiles that can easily be replaced if needed. The outdated curtains in the guest rooms were replaced with sleek and sophisticated roller shades, and we installed new headboards with built-in charging capabilities.

Overall, we couldn't be happier with how this hotel remodel turned out. We loved working with the Red Lake Tribal Council and staff to create beautiful spaces for their guests and employees. Scroll below for a look at the completed spaces and design details!
